I thought about GRATITUDE but that's too expected.
I thought about FAMILY but I think I'll save that one for another day.
And then I thought of TABLE. Yes, that's it.
Today, in the United States, millions of people will gather around tables to share a meal to celebrate Thanksgiving. Yours truly and my family of four will travel a whopping 10 miles to the nearest Cracker Barrel. Since our extended family members are several states away in Texas and I'm not a big foodie and I don't enjoy cooking that much and one of us four is a picky eater, eating out has become our own tradition the last several years. Yes, I'd rather be with my mom's side of the family where my favorite traditional dish is riced potatoes, but my mom's parents are both deceased and all her siblings and their kids are scattered all over the U.S. A special shout-out to my cousin Kellie who got engaged last weekend. She was a flower girl in my wedding. I digress.
So many important events occur around tables. We nourish our bodies, nourish our souls. The conversation. The negotiations. The disagreements. The debates. The connections.
Yes, it is the connection that happens when people gather around a table whether those people are strangers or loved ones. And it occurs again and again and again.
Should that table be round, there is no head and no foot. Everyone at the same level. No one better than another.
May all your table gatherings nourish you physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.
